ABOUT

Kevin Hennessy was born 1987 in North Denver to a family of hardworking creative types. As a child he explored many corners of the city. He was taught that art is in play with everything and everyone around him. He never went anywhere without a pencil. As a teenager Kevin developed an appreciation for carpentry and sign making as his father and grandfather had both done for work. Sometimes his mother would practice calligraphy with him on her days off. By the time he was fifteen, he was spending all his time lettering and drawing cartoons. The one thing that interested him more than letters and painting, though, were the tattoos that older graffiti writers and skaters around him wore.

For the last 15 years Kevin has been tattooing and painting signs in Denver and on the road. Traveling to Oaxaca, Berlin, Saigon, San Francisco, Hawai'i and other places on the map, he's been pursuing opportunities at unique tattoo shops and tracking down old painters and artists for their stories.

"Forbidden Love" is a collection of pieces from the last 4 years, largely spent in Oregon and Denver. Forbidden Love is about those stories.
