You've seen Mughal miniatures before, even if you didn't know it. (Think the Taj Mahal.) Those impossibly detailed paintings of emperors on elephants, lovers in moonlit gardens, and the occasional drunk princess with fireworks. For centuries, artists in the Mughal courts crafted some of the most intricate, layered, and wildly ambitious small-scale art in human history. But aside from the Taj Mahal, most people don't know who they are. (At least in the West!)

This workshop digs into the visual language of Mughal miniature painting: its motifs, its rules, its beautiful weirdness, and what happens when you drag it all into the present. Maha will walk you through the tradition, show how she remixes it in her own work…
